7th Annual Florida Automated Vehicles Summit Debuts in Miami
16th November, 2019
MIAMI - November 14, 2019 -- From November 20th through the 22nd, 2019, the Miami Dade Expressway (MDX), will host the 7th Annual Florida Automated Vehicles (FAV) Summit in downtown Miami, Florida. In recent years, this event has been a sell-out. The 2019 FAV Summit will focus on ACES mobility. ACES is an acronym for the four rising stars of mobility - Automated, Connected, Electric and Shared.
The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida, the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), along with MDX, have worked throughout the year to bring this Summit to Miami.
The FAV Summit assembles nationally-recognized experts and industry leaders to discuss the state of autonomous and connected vehicle technologies, implementation opportunities and challenges to successfully integrate these within existing transportation networks.
Electrification will be the biggest shift in mobility Florida sees over the next decade. We anticipate a significant development in automated, shared and connected technology that will transform the transportation space, said Florida State Senator Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg), a leader in automated vehicle policy solutions. Florida s technology-friendly policies are attracting investments in deployment from around the world. The Florida Automated Vehicles Summit showcases Florida s commitment to lead the country as we cast a bold vision for the road ahead.
At the FAV Summit, ACES is not only discussed but also previewed with demonstrations from cutting-edge companies in the ACES field. Live demonstrations showcasing connected and automated technologies provide insight into the potential of these technologies on our roadways. Demonstrators include ConnectedWise, Starsky Robotics, Voyage, University of South Florida, SAE International, Beep, Luminar and Ford. A wide range of speakers from the private and public sector will speak on the global impact of ACES in the very near future. Full list of speakers can be found on the FAV Summit website.
