AUSTIN TX and BOSTON MA - May 23, 2017 -- MTPV Power Corporation, a clean energy company which makes semiconductor chips that convert heat directly into electricity, has named energy industry executive and current MTPV Board member Dr. Mark Little as Chairman of the Board. Former Chairman and MTPV founder Bob DiMatteo remains on the Board of Directors and also co-chairs the company s recently announced Board of Advisors.
Dr. Little has previously served as the CTO of General Electric leading over 50,000 technologists across GE s businesses while also leading GE Global Research with more than 3,000 scientists, engineers and researchers delivering fundamental technology advances in industries spanning energy, oil gas, aviation, healthcare, transportation, consumer products, and financial services.
Mark has proven to be an invaluable addition to our Board since he joined us in 2016, said David Mather, President and CEO of MTPV. Mark s experience in running a world class research organization and success in supporting emerging technologies to achieve large-scale commercial success are perfectly aligned with MTPV s activities and objectives.
MTPV s use of semiconductor chips to convert heat directly into electricity is a radically different approach to energy recovery that can leverage the manufacturing process, investment, and scale that are already in place for the semiconductor industry, said Mark Little. The MTPV team is making significant strides in advancing toward commercial readiness.
Dr. Little held many leadership roles during his 37-year career at GE including running GE s multibillion dollar power generation business. In addition to his role at MTPV, Dr. Little is a Venture Partner at the Material Impact Fund, a Board member at Analog Devices and Powerphase, and an Advisor to Energy Impact Partners, an electric utility investment fund. He is the Chair of the Schenectady Smart City Commission and on the Board of Trustees at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Ellis Medicine. Charitable work is central to Mark s purpose and he and his wife founded and operate the Little Family Foundation which provides a strong base for their charitable pursuits.
Mark holds Bachelor s and Master s degrees in mechanical engineering from Tufts and Northeastern universities respectively and earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
