SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 31 -- Supertex, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUPX) today announced DN2470, a high voltage, N-channel depletion-mode MOSFET featuring a 700V breakdown voltage that provides protection against high voltage transients in normally closed solid-state relays, SMPS start-up circuits, converters and constant current sources. This high-speed device is the industry's first 700V depletion device.

With a 42-ohm maximum on-resistance, DN2470 minimizes power dissipation and voltage drops. Depletion-mode allows construction of normally on solid-state relays and two terminal constant current sources. This device has the power handling capabilities of bipolar transistors and with the high input impedance and positive temperature coefficient inherent in MOS devices. Characteristic of all MOSFET structures, the DN2470 is free from thermal runaway and thermally induced secondary breakdown.
