216KHz Audio A/D Converter Targets Professional, Consumer Audio Applications
New chip extends AKM"s family of pin-compatible devices.
San Jose, California October 10 2003 -- Asahi Kasei Microsystems Semiconductor, Inc. (AKM), a leading supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets today introduced the AK5385A, an enhanced 24-bit 2-channel A/D converter supporting sample rates up to 216KHz. The high-performance device is designed for professional and consumer electronics applications that require a high degree of resolution, including DVD-A and professional 192KHz recording formats.
The AK5385A features fully differential inputs and an enhanced dual-bit architecture that provides an impressive 114dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A key feature of the AK5385A is its pin-compatibility with the current AKM lineup of high performance analog-to-digital converters, including the audio industry's highest performing ADC, the AK5394A. In all, there are five pin-compatible parts in this A/D family, allowing designers to use the AK5385A and easily change price and performance by using a pin-compatible alternative. The chip supports 24-bit audio formats and sample rates from 8KHz to 216KHz, making it suitable for high-definition audio for professional and consumer applications.
