nTelos Wireless Awarded UVA Medical Center Contract

nTelos Wireless, a leading provider of wireless voice and data services, announced that the company has been awarded the University of Virginia [UVA] Medical Center enterprise-wide mobile communications systems and devices contract. The 5-year agreement began in January 2008 and will extend through January 2012. nTelos Wireless will provide enterprise-wide integration and expansion of wireless voice, text messaging, data and paging services at the UVA Medical Center. A full complement of wireless phones, smartphones, and PDA's with advanced features is included.
"We spent 2-years on this project to make sure we had the technology we need today and a pathway to advances in communication services as they develop. Our concerns for potential RF interference to medical devices used in our health care environment are minimized by the installation of the distributed antenna system and technology from nTelos," said John Knapp, Director of Clinical Engineering. "This partnership allows the medical center to get all of the services we need plus a cost savings on our communications budget."
