Worldspan Partners With Calleo to Introduce Best-of-Breed Travel Technologies to the Indian Sub-Continent
13th December, 2005
ATLANTA and NEW DELHI, India, Dec. 13 -- Worldspan, L.P., the Atlanta-based global travel technology provider, and Calleo Distribution Technologies Pvt Ltd, the New Delhi, India-based technology distributor and service provider, are jointly launching comprehensive travel IT services for travel agencies in the Indian Sub-Continent. Beginning in January 2006, travel agencies in the Indian Sub-Continent will gain access to Worldspan's total travel management and e-commerce solutions, including real-time interface to the Worldspan global distribution system (GDS) and a broad range of industry- leading, fully integrated travel technologies.
Calleo holds exclusive distribution rights for Worldspan products for these markets. Its team of highly qualified professionals will provide sales, IT consulting, service and support to travel agencies choosing Worldspan as their primary travel technology provider. Calleo has created a state-of-the- art facility in Qutab Institutional Area in New Delhi to support the Worldspan partnership and customer base. The facility is fully equipped to manage a travel agency help desk, and training and networking requirements to service and grow agency customers. Calleo professionals offer expertise in Worldspan products, and extensive experience through their diverse travel industry backgrounds in the airline, GDS, Call Center and travel agency markets.
"Travel is a substantial segment of these markets' economies, where overall outbound, inbound and domestic travel are on the rise. This trend, combined with our region's profile as a major center of information technology, creates both demand and opportunity for travel agencies to conduct business using the most advanced solutions," said J.B. Singh, director and chief executive officer for Calleo. "Another critical benefit for agencies in using Worldspan here and worldwide is that Worldspan is the only major GDS provider that does not compete with agencies as a travel retailer. Worldspan and Calleo are therefore able to serve as dedicated and intently focused technology partners for travel agencies in the region."
"Travel agencies in the Indian Sub-Continent face the same challenges as their counterparts throughout the world. To compete and grow, they must diversify and increase their offerings, and this means providing travelers with greater choice and superior service. Worldspan's technologies and e- commerce leadership, combined with Calleo's staff of expert sales, service and support professionals, will ensure agencies have all the advantages they need to succeed," said Mike Parks, Worldspan senior vice president - Worldwide Travel Distribution.
